Authentic Southern Comfort

image

Are you in the mood for authentic soul food for a simple price? Simply Southern Smokehouse Buffet in Myrtle Beach, SC promises to delight your taste buds with a wide range of southern classics. Fried chicken, collard greens, macaroni and cheese, biscuits, corn bread, mashed potatoes,  gravy, BBQ ribs and pulled pork, sweet potato soufle, green beans, and a glass of sweet tea are a must. The price for this array of BBQ and Country cuisine is about $11 per adult. The price point for this quality southern comfort food cannot be beat. If you are in the area, swing by, pull up a chair, relax and enjoy.

Johnny Ds Waffle House and Bakery…it’s all about the waffles, waffles, waffles

The first time at Johnny Ds in Myrtle Beach, SC, I ordered a red velvet waffle with chocolate chips added. This waffle arrived topped with melted butter, drizzled cream cheese icing, and a sprinkling of powdered sugar.  I also ordered 3 different sides and a strawberry lemonade mimosa. My husband ordered a pancake breakfast platter. While his breakfast platter was good, he had to hear me rave about my waffle until I made him try a (small) piece. Two days later, we returned and I ordered the same waffle, two sides, a regular mimosa and my husband opted for the cinna-roll waffle with chocolate chips added.  Both waffles were amazingly light and delectable (hence the return trip). On Saturday and Sunday, mimosas are $3.50 but cost $5.00 on weekdays. The only slight drawback to the waffle choice is that they do not offer a breakfast platter or combo with a waffle. This eatery is open 6:30am to 2pm, so keep that in mind when planning your day. Did I mention that I really like their waffles?

Smoking Hot Grill and BBQ

On our two visits to this Barefoot Landing eatery in Myrtle Beach, SC, we had the full rack of BBQ ribs with a side of chili and fries (twice) and the BBQ pulled pork and shrimp and fritters (chicken), with macaroni and cheese and green beans (twice). The macaroni and cheese was of solid southern quality (not from the box) and the green beans’ tastiness matched, providing me with equal enjoyment of southern-style cuisine. The dry rubbed ribs, pulled pork, fried shrimp, and chicken fritters represented quality bbq flavors across the board. Their cocktail menu features flavored moonshine mixed with juices, teas and/or pop/soda. On our two visits we tried 3 different cocktails…we recommend. Customer service was just right; attentive but not annoying. We would easily come back again, expecting the same quality of food, spirits, and service.
